Cummings and Cummings PLLC CPAs is a full service accounting firm engaged in all aspects of accounting including audits, client write-up, income tax preparation and consulting. Shortly after passing the CPA exam Bob received a call from Jim Thompson, Chairman of the Accounting Department at Memphis State, with an offer of a full-time position in the Accounting Department as an Assistant Professor of Accounting. At this point Bob decided to leave the working world and try academia. During 1966 Bob enrolled as a part-time student in the doctoral program at the University of Mississippi and completed 30 hours during the next two years. During the Summer of 1968 Bob was offered a position in the Accounting Department at the University of Southern Mississippi resulting in the re-location to Hattiesburg in August of 1968. Bob continued working on the doctorate at Ole Miss and received his PhD in Accounting on December 20, 1976. In 1972, Bob started his private accounting practice in Hattiesburg and continued to teach at the University. During 1978 he left the University and purchased a building at 1316 Hardy St. with fellow CPA Art Kersh. In 1990, he purchased the building across the street and moved to 1319 Hardy St.
